연주자 소개 Performer Introduction

Hyelim Kim

대금 연주자 및 작곡가인 김혜림은 한국의 전통악기인 대금을 이용하여 다양한 음악 문화와 교류하면서 새로운 가능성을 개척하고 있다. 그녀는 서울대학교 국악과에서 학사와 석사를 마치고 지금은 시드니 대학교 박사 과정을 이수하면서, 한국 음악의 세계화를 위해 연구 중이다. 2009년 문화예술 위원회의 영아트프론트어로 선정된 후, 미국 뉴욕 (2009뉴욕 오마이 국제 레지 던시), 뉴질랜드 오클랜드 (2009뉴질랜드 전자 음악 콘퍼런스), 시드니(2010년 아시아 음악 심포지엄) 등 다양한 해외 무대에서 국악의 새로운 미래를 위해 활동 영역을 넓히고 있다. A native of Korea, Hyelim Kim is a pioneer musician/composer in fusion music developing a new aspect of Korean traditional music in taegum(Korean traditional flute) performance, improvisation and composition. She earned a BA and an MA in Korean traditional music at Seoul National University, which is her original resource of musical inspiration. Upon graduating, she was recommended as an excellent performer to enter the “Nationwide Korean Traditional Music Concert for New Performers”. She has been appointed as Young Artist from the Korean council in 2009 and Kumho Cultural Foundation in 2006. Along with the practical activities, Hyelim Kim has a further commitment to explore the way Korean music has interacted with various kinds of music to make a new heterogeneous musical culture by doing a PhD at the University of Sydney. www.hyelimkim.com

Lwah Barclay

리아 바클레이는 호주 복합장르 아티스트(interdisciplinary artist)상을 수상하였고, 현재 2009 아시아링크 퍼포밍 아티스트 레지던시에 선발되어 한국의 아트센터 나비에서 3개월간 현대 기술과 전통 음악을 결합시킨 작업을 진행하고 있다. 그녀의 작업은 하이브리드 음악과 기술의 무한한 가능성과 함께하는 라이브 퍼포먼스의 순간성이 섞인 실험적 소리 언어(sonic languages)에 대해 말한다. 리아 바클레이는 퀸즐랜드 음악대학을 졸업하고, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 캐나다, 유럽, 인도 등 세계 전역에서 작업 활동을 하고 있다. Leah Barclay is an award winning Australian interdisciplinary artist. She was the recipient of the 2009 Asialink Performing Artist Residency for Korea and is based at art center nabi for three months developing a series of works integrating traditional music and modern technology. Her current work explores hybrid media and experimental sonic languages fusing the spontaneity of live performance with the infinite possibilities of technology.
